Creative solutions for tight spaces

At BMS, no job is too tight or complex. Recently, we had to replace two large glass panes (2.4 x 2 m, approx. 240 kg) in apartments where traditional methods were not possible. The working area was limited by balconies, glass barriers and lack of crane access due to the underground parking underneath the building.

Innovative solution
We positioned a mobile tower crane on the opposite side of the building. Using a balance beam equipped with a glass manipulator, our team was able to reach under the balcony, tilt the glass over the guardrail, and securely install the panes in place.

Precision and planning
The task required careful crane control and close coordination on site. All details were planned in advance, including permission for road space and choice of weather – light winds of 2 m/sec and sunshine on the day of the lift.

BMS equipment
BMS balance beams can lift up to 12,000 kg under overhangs and reach 6 meters into buildings. For this task, a 2,500 kg balance beam with a 3 m reach was used, showing how our equipment can be adapted to even the most confined conditions.

Result
